Jeff Kubas, President of Vertex Resource Group, Inc., has over 18 years experience in the staffing industry. A former police officer, he, along with his wife Leslie, started FlexiCorps Inc. in 1992. While growing the company, they developed the Vertex Resource Group family of companies. They now have 2 daughters that work with them after having graduated from NIU. The company has been listed on the INC 5000 list for three years in a row and is currently ranked in the top 50 Human Resources companies nationally.
Briefly, describe your business? Vertex Resource Group consists of three companies, each uniquely positioned to fulfill the Human Capital Requirements locally and nationwide
- Flexicorps Inc.: light industrial staffing to a wide variety of manufacturing industries.
- Alliance HR Network: Clerical, Administrative and Professional search firm
- Wage Solutions: HR consulting and administration. Managed payroll services
What size is you company? We have 5 offices throughout the Chicagoland area. We also have an office in Grenada, Mississippi.
What is your ideal client? Partnership and communication are the keys to success. Ideally, our clients allow us an open forum for discussion of their requirements. They trust in our ability to develop a candidate or consulting plan that will meet or exceed those requirements.
What products and/or services does your business offer? Whether your company requires outsourcing assistance, direct hire recruiting, hiring selection consulting, supplemental recruiting assistance, compliance and liability management or a customized human resources solution, Vertex Resource Group is dedicated to helping you build a professional team. We use the latest technologies in assessment testing as well as behavioral testing/interviewing to benefit both our client and our candidate.
How did you originally discover the idea for your business? In 1992 we learned of a company with a need. Just like a lot of new businesses, a recipe for success: a Cup of need, a Tablespoon of opportunity and a hundred gallons of hard work. Same recipe works today.
What have been the keys to success in your eyes? HR which encompasses recruitment, retention and legal aspects of employment has changed dramatically since we first began in 1992. Serving in this dynamic industry, we are dedicated to maintaining our position as experts in our field in order to remain a valuable asset to our clients and candidates.
What kind of relationship do you establish with your customers? Our industry is highly service oriented. Over the past 15 years, we've developed strategic processes for customer satisfaction and retention. Our focus on our customers and our candidates is extraordinarily well defined.
How do you maintain these relationships? It may seem contrite but, WE LISTEN. Once we understand the need we customize a process that will ensure success. Our strong suit is that, as clients develop and change over time, we immediately adjust OUR processes in accordance with their needs.
Have you noticed any trends in your industry at the moment? Our industry has been hard hit by recent economic times. Unemployment is at a level that most have never seen. Many think that this is NOT the time to use our expertise. That's a costly mistake. When your company has made cutbacks but still needs to produce, we have solutions. When you need to make vital choices in personnel; we're the experts. When you need to cut costs in payroll and HR; we can help in a big way!
What is the funniest story you've come across in your business? We don't have anything that could be considered "funny". We do, however, meet a lot of interesting people. Nothing surprises us anymore.
What is your greatest achievement? There are two: Maintaining relationships with customers from our first year in business, we are still in partnerships with them today, and developing the "Family of Three Companies" from scratch.
