Riley Drug was opened in 1967 by Jim Riley who purchased an existing store called Wayne Drug. In 1999 his son, Tim Riley, took over for his father. Riley Drug recently underwent an extensive remodeling of the building and drugstore, and in 2010 they will be celebrating 43 years of business in downtown Geneva.
Briefly, describe your business. We are a large independent drugstore with many different specialty departments for service and convenience.
What size is you company? We currently employ twelve full and part time people, including 2 full time and 2 part time pharmacists. Our current sales are approximately 4 million.
What is your ideal client? Our ideal client would be a young family that is looking for a trusting and welcoming environment and personal care from our pharmacists.
What products and/or services does your business offer? In addition to the main business of filling prescriptions and answering questions, we offer three main products and services that set us apart from our many competitors. These services are compounding specialized medications, compliance packaging which organizes medications into easy to take packs, and home medical equipment and supplies for sale and rent.
What have been the keys to success in your eyes? Certainly outstanding customer service is the key to success to the independent pharmacy. It is important for us to know all of our customers and their families. We try to spend as much time with them as possible answering questions and helping them select the right product.
Have you noticed any trends in your industry? People want more information about the medications they are taking. Counseling patients on their medication is becoming increasingly important.
What is your greatest achievement? I am very proud of growing and continuing our family's business as an independent drugstore among all of the chain competition that surrounds us. |
