James N. Chakires, CPA, CVA
James is the President and CEO of the firm which he started in 1998. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University in 1992. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. His professional experience began as an accounting manager for a leading regional accounting firm in the Fox Valley. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for a regional mid western bank. He is a past President and active member of the Geneva Rotary Club. Starting two successful businesses and multiple real estate holdings, Jim has the ability to relate to business owners like no other CPA. He views himself as a business owner first, a CPA second. His primary objective is to help the business owner determine where he wants to go and then maps out a plan to get there. He is an experienced consultant, acting as the outsourced CEO/CFO for businesses ranging from $5 to $30 million in sales. Robert J. Perta
Robert is our Executive Vice President and is responsible for overseeing our Virtual Controller Division. He is a graduate of Roosevelt University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accountancy in 1976. As an owner of a successful accounting firm for over 30 years (The Oak Brook Accountants, Ltd.), Robert’s presence provides a wealth of professional and practical experience ranging from corporate tax planning and preparation, personal income tax preparation and wealth management planning for established business owners. With the merger of Bob’s firm into Apex in 2007, Bob brings the principles of efficient and timely service coupled with client-focused advice that is the foundation every business should be built upon.

Susan De Wolf, Enterprise Division Associate
Sue is our Enterprise division leader. Sue’s 27 years of experience cover a variety of technical areas including controllership, multi-state payroll tax compliance, multi-state sales and use tax compliance, general ledger maintenance and financial statement preparation. By successfully obtaining advanced training as a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, her professional experience makes her a valuable asset to any small businesses. Nick Brooks, CPA
Nick is the Executive division associate. He graduated from Western Illinois University in 2002 with Bachelor of Business Degrees in Accountancy and Information Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member in good standing with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Illinois CPA Society. He is also a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. He is actively involved in the St. Charles Breakfast Rotary Club. Nick’s entire professional career has been in the public accounting industry, specializing in Controllership services for middle market businesses. His experience includes financial reporting, budgeting and cash flow, trend analysis and income tax of high net worth individuals and their businesses.

Megan Robinson, Associate
Megan is our Enterprise division associate. She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. Megan is a Certified Quick Books ProAdvisor. She is also a member of the Business Networking International group. Megan is currently in the process of obtaining her CPA designation. Megan’s entire professional career has been in public accounting. She is an integral part of our Apex Enterprise division. She specializes in financial statement preparation, sales tax preparation, and payroll tax compliance.

Tony Serpico, Marketing Director
Tony is the Strategem disision leader and is a seasoned graphic designer with 15 years of experience. Tony has worked on a wide range of projects for his clients including marketing collateral, corporate identity design, direct mail, signage, billboards and web design. Tony is activly involved in the Geneva Rotary Club and is the current Vice Presedent of the St. Charles Chapter of Business Networking International.
